Summer Road Trip Update!

Pursuit of Happiness title

Thanks for joining us on our 2009 Road Trip called: “Pursuit of Happiness”.  We even began the series with a record attendance for a non-holiday weekend — 1106!  It’s great to be part of a church full of people who love inviting their friends.

As many of you know, summer is my Intensive Study Time for the upcoming year.  It’s my time to dive into a much new material as I can to prep for the 10 months ahead.  In the past years of doing this, it has dramatically increased the positive feedback we receive from the various series we do.  As you can imagine, delivering practical, helpful, and interesting Biblical messages every weekend requires lots of quality input.  This study time is one of those major “inputs” for me.

As such, I generally begin and end the Summer series, as well as teach one of the “legs” in the middle somewhere (This year its week 5).  The rest of the summer weeks I share the series with our Teaching Team (Gary, Kevin, Ben and sometimes Crystal and even a guest or two).  Generally this summer study time takes place in the middle of July to the middle of August.  Most of the weekends I attend and host one of the campuses, and a few of the weekends during July and August I also take some vacation time.

Having said all that, let me ask you for this:

  • Join us for as many weekends as you are in town.

  • Pray for my study time.  Pray that it will be directed and productive

  • Enjoy any vacation time you have, but continue to honor God first with the financial blessings he brings your way.  I often say, “Don’t give Mickey Mouse what belongs to God!”

  • Listen online to any weekends you miss, so as to “complete the Road Trip” with us.

I love you and am proud of all we do together!

Have a great summer!

Doug

Summer “Next Step” Update

Thank you for your continued interest in “Next Step” (our project to gain more space for kids on our Alamo campus).

Two big updates to share:

1)  Offices have moved to San Ramon.  The primary way we could gain more kids’ space in Alamo was to move our offices.  The final solution was to move off-site.  With the economic down-turn, this scenario became the most affordable.  Our new offices are located at 2680 Bishop Drive, suite 250, in San Ramon.  Click here to see a map: NLC OFFICE MAP.  These offices not only open up space in Alamo, they dramatically improve our working space and environment for our staff (who have worked in sub-par/over-crowded space for years).  I like when revised solutions give more than the original plan intended!

2)  Remodeling of the old office space is two-thirds complete.  Click on the diagram below for a larger image:

All “Next Step” monies (past, current, and future) are dedicated to pay for this project.

In addition to “Next Step” we will also need to under-take resurfacing the parking lot before it deteriorates to a major problem and updating our women’s restroom.

Thank you to all who have made pledges and contributions.  We are more affective because of it!

Blessings,

Doug
